Went to Flemington loc to pick up SIM card for replacement phone. Since I'm not account holder they needed to get approval from my ex to give me a SIM card which is free.

I told the older woman that the cust service I spoke to the day prior already got his approval and said they would overnight me a SIM card, however I didn't get it so I was told I could just take replacement phone into any Verizon store and they'd give me a SIM card. Well, the older woman who waited on me insisted she needed my exs permission again to give me a SIM card due to privacy issues and bc I gave her my drivers license now it started an issue that not only did they need to call him for authorization again, but they also needed to email him a special secret code that he needed to fill out somewhere.... Just so I could get a free SIM card? Anyway, it took over an hour and it was irritating to get such *** customer service esp since SIM cards are free and I needed a working phone to replace mine with.

So, then the woman told me that from that point on, Verizon won't help me at all unless my ex added me as an account holder. In other words, he can't authorize anything anymore unless I'm an account holder. This was my special bonus for irritating her over the situation as she was talking to one of her buddy coworkers over noting my account to that effect. Because of her position as a Verizon employee she was able to retaliate against me that way.

I have had this account for about 11 years now. I know Verizon's mission right now is to totally get out of having to provide customer service, just look at their open job postings for more info on that. So, they want their business to be more profitable which means they need to downsize their employees. So I'm pretty sure this is why they provide their employees, like the old lady rep, to take any option of customer service away from people like me.

The other thing that upset me was that I heard a heavyset sales girl telling another customer that since his battery wasn't able to hold a long charge, they don't fix that the battery cannot be replaced since it's a sealed smart phone. I had to interject and tell the guy to go on the Internet where he can get a replacement battery for like $8.00 and do it himself. ... Everything like instructions and a proper tool is out there for anyone who has access to the Internet.

And for anyone else reading this, it's really simple to replace your screen as well and they're pretty cheap too.

So, if I were to get my own account I def would not select Verizon. Verizon is the poster child for the inequality and .01 percent greedy bastards in America today.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Location: Flemington, New Jersey

I know you had a frustrating time getting a free SIM card but you have to look at it from a security standpoint. There is a lot of fraud going on with activating SIM cards.

If you are not on the account, they have to get approval. Fraudsters try to activate SIM cards to use and make international calls that are charged to the account.

The purpose of the code is like a second step verification to protect the account. hopevthis helps.
