Verizon Wireless claims that I received notice and a mailing packet to return my BlackBerry phone which they replaced with a working phone. I dropped and broke my original BlackBerry which I PAID FOR and paid a $50.00 one time courtesy replacement charge for a replacement BlackBerry ( due to my long time standing as a good customer ). Verizon has now billed me $429.99 because I did not return the broken phone, which after removing the battery to use in the replacement phone, I discarded. Four Hundred Twenty Nine Dollars and Ninety Nine Cents! FOR A BROKEN PHONE !

The arrogance, utter gall and hubris of this company knows no bounds. Verizon states that there were instructions to return my broken phone and a paid shipping envelope in the package that my replacement phone came in and I say THERE WAS NOT! If there was I would have shipped it back to them. By the way, I would have shipped it back to them and paid the postage myself had I known that they were expecting the broken phone back.

Four Hundred Twenty Nine Dollars and Ninety Nine Cents for an unreturned broken phone that Verizon will never see from me unless a court orders that I pay it ( I am a law abiding citizen ). And perhaps the courts may. We'll see because I will be filing a suit against Verizon Wireless in the small claims court of Collier County in Florida for the exact amount that they insist I owe them plus the filing fee of $40.00. Grand total against you Verizon Wireless of $469.99.

A Verizon Wireless "supervisor" said the best Verizon Wireless Could do was to take 25 % of the unreturned phone charge off my bill. No. Nowhere near satisfactory. I was never told to return the broken phone. Not verbally by any Verizon employee at the Naples store and not in the package that accompanied my new phone.

The only wireless provider that I have ever known. The only wireless provider that I have ever used ( and my wife too for that matter ) SHAME ON YOU. I'll free up some time for court if you will.

I received a new phone due to the one I had was defective and under warranty. I returned the defective phone in the box provided with the label Verizon provided.

I then dropped this off at a fedex drop off center within the 5 days required. A month later I get my bill charging me $360 for the defective phone they said they never recieved! They asked me what the tracking number was and I did not keep any info on the phone and I just dropped it off. I told them that they should have this info because they supplied this to me with a label.

They said they did not.

I called back again and they said they could find the tracking number and was trying to track it on the Fedex site but tere wasn't anything on the site for that number.

Some how this is my fault because she asked me where my proof was that I sent it and I wouldn't be able to get a receipt at a drop off box for Fedex!

So now I have to send a letter to Verizon and then if nothing else put a complaint in with the Business Bureau. But I have 4 phones with Verizon and the whole thing is ridicules because now I will have to find another phone company!

well let's talk about the fact, that I did, indeed, receive the packaging along with the free postage, in which I did, indeed, send the broken phone in the packaging THEY-VERIZON provided, with the free shipping that VERIZON provided... to also only get stuck with a $429.00 deduction from checking account..

let's talk about upset. Yes. very.

It get's better, they won't refund the money either. I've had previous problems with verizon, but i've given them chance after chance it seems, in hopes their service would be better, but it has not improved the slighest bit, yet, possibly just got worse.

Well if they sent a return envelope, that should be a pretty good clue they want you to return the defective one...

My wife was charged $600 for a defective phone that she returned. The problem is that she returned it to a Verizon Wireless (on storefront sign) store that Verizon says is an independent 3rd party and they can do nothing....very convenient.

There is nothing to indicate on store that one is not dealing with Verizon.

Also, no paperwork was given to my wife when she returned the phone. Being busy she was more concerned about getting a replacement functioning phone. The salesperson she dealt with is no longer at the store.

I know we will most likely have to pay this $600, but we will never return to Verizon for any future wireless needs. And certainly will make sure we deal directly with a wireless company store and not one of these third party store owners.

Here's the deal with returning phones:

They tell you to send the defective one back when doing a warranty exchange. If they REALLY didn't (which I doubt) call and tell a sup, but be mellow, because yelling like a child solves nothing.

That said, even if they didn't, it says to return in on the paperwork the replacement came in.

Keep your lawsuits to yourself. Unless the rep you originally spoke to didn't tell you and you can't read, you're in the wrong.

BTW -- the chargeback is as expensive as it is because it's close to the retail value of the phone. Yes, that blackberry you bought at $100 is more like a $500 phone.

Hey Willis and Fedup:

Know of what you speak before you go off. I have the exact situation; never told to return the phone. My order/contract does not require return of a phone, never given instructions to return until after I was given notice of a $459 charge, which they deducted from my checking account, EVEN after I returned the phone! So this isn't at all about being a *** consumer. This is about a company who claims a "policy" is a contract term and no evidence to back it up.

I sued and am awaiting hearing. Can't wait to get them in front of a judge! Good luck Mr. Eagleton

when you order a phone, youare given extensive disclosure regarding returning the defective phone within a certain amount of time. it is no one's fault but your own that you were in such a tizzy because you broke your beloved blackberry that you store your life's history in and wanted another one in such a rush that you disregarded everything that was explained to you.

also this same information is in your contract when you purchase a phone, also in the material that comes with the original phone and on the receipt that comes with the phone. it is your own fault that all you wanted was your blackberry that you didn't read the instructions that came with it. just simply took the phone out of the box then threw it away. probably didn't even activate it yourself.

probablly called into the call center so someone could hold your hand while you transferred all your info over because you just couldn't simply be smart enough to do it yourself.

knowldge is power. you don't have a leg to stand on in court and will be the laughing stock.
