Verizon - Internet Service Review from Elizabeth, New Jersey

Terrible service. I had verizon Fios installed on 8/11/15 and within hours the cable went out. A message appeared on the screen saving there was a problem and it would be be back on shortly. I had house sitters coming in as I was leaving to go on a cruise. Needless to say the cable never came back on and I called to report it as soon as I returned on the 20th. A technician came out to repair it that same day. When I called to request a credit for the cable (not the Internet or the phone) I was informed by the customer service rep that because I did not report it they could not give me credit even though they are the ones who said that the service would be up which discouraged me from calling in the first place. Even though their tech spect 2 hours here crawling up and down the pole saying that the initial work was done improperly and there was no/low video feed coming into the house---why wasn't that in there records? For less than $20 or so they're willing to alienate a customer. And to top it off I can't cancel my contract. A few days shy of 14. Believe me I won't forget when it's time to renew. Terrible customer service!!!!

The picture on our tv is pixelated, coming in and out, no audio so we tried Verizon customer service (gasp!) on a Sunday. After repeated attempts at reaching a human we dialed the number for new sales which ALWAYS has a human answer. 24/7. this person was pleasant and gave us a number that she believed had humans at the other end but all we got after a complete run around of "press one for....", etc., we received a curt recording, "The office is closed." Apparently Verizon fios services do not go out on weekends or evenings. Big lesson! VERIZON STAFFS ITS NEW SALES DEPARTMENT 24/7. WHY? BECAUSE IT CARES MORE ABOUT NEW REVENUES THAN EXISTING CUSTOMERS. Any suggestions?

Verizon FiOS is probably the worse internet service, too expensive and speed is not provided as advertised. I just returned from several years of working overseas and Verizon service is worse than some of the third countries I had spent time at, Korea and Japan service is 100% better and cheaper than Verizon. If you think you are getting what you are paying for, boy your are wrong, you are being rip off by the US companies. I am paying for 150Mbps and the service comes to a crawl as soon as too many people start searching or using the internet. I called and they said they are providing the service as required, but this is not true, for example video streaming will come almost to a stop during peak hours (0600PM to 0900PM).

Fortunately, the issue was resolved. However, it took a certified letter to the corporate office stating a demand and notice to sue to resolve the matter. The ones hired to do the job of handling complaints are apparently unable to do their job.

New phones were ordered from Verizon under their new plan that charges a monthly fee. The old phones were returned as requested, however, Verizon has not credited all the phones. We are still being charged $299.00 for a phone that Verizon admitted was returned, however, to this date has refused to change their bill to reflect same. Several chat sessions have been made with Verizon and on each one they apologize and promise to rectify the error. They never do. Further, they promise to check back with me to ensure the problem is solved. They never do. While Verizon may have good coverage, they have the worse customer service of any company I have dealt with. Here is the latest chat session. They promised this morning to correct the error that has been ongoing the past few weeks, however, as usual, it didn't happen. They even ADMIT they are in error! =============== Hello, my name is Andrew. Im happy to assist you with your question regarding your account. How can I help you today? Ray Watters: OK, Andrew. Nothing has changed since our chat this morning. You didn't get back to me by 4PM eastern. Andrew: Good afternoon Ray, I do apologize for the inconvenience, my Supervisor is currently in a meeting I actually had your account pulled up to send you a message. Ray Watters: And? Andrew: The ticket itself has not yet been resolved, it is currently still pending, I have to wait for my Supervisor for phone calls to be made to any customer. Ray Watters: Fine. We're done. Just to let you know, I am getting on every website I can find to state exactly how Verizon has treated us. Further, should Verizon decide to cancel us due to non-payment of a bill we do not owe, I can guarantee legal action for loss of business. You people may have good coverage, but your customer service is ABSOLUTLEY NON-EXISTENT! Good day.

Verizon cut off my phone service when we were in financial problems during the economic downturn. Paid them exactly what I owed them, NEVER turned the phones back on and is still, three years later, trying to charge me for the next month of service that I never received.Turned it over to a collection service and dinged my credit even though they ADMIT I HAD NO SERVICE.Say there is nothing I can do about it, they can charge me what they want. I had NO CONTRACT AND NO SERVICE.

I do not appreciate Verizon's adoption of ransom ware marketing techniques to attempt to force new products and features by imposing annoying tones and messages upon customers. For example; the unethical practice sending an annoying tone and message that our voice mail has a problem and the only way to solve it is to call tech support error code 9004. That results in some lam sales pitch about the new visual voice mail for $3.00 per month, and to be told that the only way to clear my device, if I don't want it, is to "power down" my phone. The individual I spoke to said something about being better than living in Red China???

Cancelation Fees | Verizon review from Ohio

I would just like to put this out there since I feel like someone else should hear about it. My grandmother just passed away recently and had a plan with Verizon. My mother went to cancel her plan today and was told, after explaining the situation to the rep, that there would be a $350 charge to cancel the plan regardless. She had the nerve to tell my mother that she would have to pay to have her deceased mothers account closed. I found this absolutely repulsive and rude and cannot believe that anyone in their right mind would be so incompetent as to say that to someone. The situation is still being worked out but I feel as if someone in Verizon needs to know how their representatives are treating their customers. I am incredibly displeased with this entire encounter and will definitely be filing a formal complaint if this does not get defused soon.

Bravo to the Prepaid Plan C/S folks - I got switched back to the dollar a day plan I've had for some five years and got my $35 back for the past month. But the question remains how honest is a company when you go to their store to replace the phone you left in your pocket and ran through the washer/dryer and in the process of selling you that new phone the sales folks switch plans on you to the $35 a month unlimited data plan. That happened to me at the Placerville store. There is minimal coverage to the 700 homes eleven miles north of Placerville in the Sierra foothills - ATT seems to have stopped their fiber optic project to the area and neither Verizon nor Sprint have intruded on ATT monopoly by coming in with a cell tower choosing instead to concentrate along the highway 50 corridor. It's ashame because I would have changed carriers today rather then submit to being treated like a cash cow ready to be milked by VERIZON!

Received a notification from Verizon that I had downloaded a copyrighted show. I hadn't, and have proof that I wasn't even in the country during this contested show download. Verizon sends me a blackmail email, either I accept a punishment and have my internet throttled (a service that I pay for that they are now denying me) or they will not reinstate my internet service. I accept the throttle, but not the date that Verizon chose. I contact Verizon several times asking for the date of my service impact to be changed. Verizon admitted to me that NO ONE at Verizon controls the date of my service impact. I asked several Verizon supervisors, who does control my service dates. None of them knew, they were all equally baffled. So Verizon is allowing a third party entity to impact the service I pay Verizon to fulfill. So much for keeping my personal account information private. Verizon doesn't control any of their back-end databases.

I agreed to sign up with Verizon fios and they put me into a 2 year contract. I told them I would be moving before the contract expired. I was told no problem I could take it with me or if they did not offer service where I was going I would not be charged for termination. So now that I am moving they are charging me $130 for early termination. I have called several time and am told they cannot reverse the charge. Several times after being on hold for 20 minutes they hang up on me. This company is stealing from the consumer. They make rules as they go and the customer is denied any recourse. I have had Verizon service twice with similar problems. They got a second change and failed.
