What, Verizon customer service?

so many problems where do I begin, told service tech would show up between 1:00- 5:00 on a Friday. Took day off to wait, and waited. 5:00 comes and goes at6:50pm tech shows up no forewarning that he was coming naturally assumed it was not going to happen. Tech was very irritated that he had to go back out and make one more call so much that his attitude made me irritated, remember I took day off to make appointment. His first words is that it was going to cost me $135.00 before he even new what problem was. I felt that with such bad attitude that it was best just to send him home. It is what he wanted. Paid an out side contractor( not affiliated with Verizon) to resolve problem. I am know being billed for Verizon techs service call. I called to dispute was told basically to pound Sand! Verizon has gotten way to arrogant time to take them down a notch or two. I am openly encouraging any and all to terminate Verizon services any and all. They absolutely are deplorable.

Verizon - Phone Plan Review

I too had the same experience ..but only at a store located at Tempe market place inTempe Arizona...when my driod 2 razor's battery took a dump...it was one that was sealed and couldnt be removed...completely dead So off to the verizon store when it no longer turned on...I was greeted nicely at the door asked how they could be of service. I handed them my dead phone and the battery was actually was bulging out from its back cover...immeditely the rep smiled and said "oh thats the 4 th phone this week brought in like this" keep in mind this took place late on a wednesday. So im thinking great a faulty phone...oh no... everything went downhill from there. I was then told i couldnt replace it with another droid..they were not available. They gave me two choices...an LG or galaxy..i thinkit was a galaxy.. any they both were $200.oo plus..n of course i was " due" for an upgrade. So i had to have a phone so i chose the LG. Then there's a hiccup seems according to their records i was behind on a payment and the purchase couldnt be made until i payed the fee. I was like excuse me ?? I just paid my bill last week. But according to them i owed $278.00 So He's still insisting i owed 2 months worth. So he shows me my payment record...so i showed him on that record that i just made a payment. Still they refused until i slid my card to make another installement. So fine i thought i will deal with this later...then happily he's setting up my phone and says. "So i see here on your current contract you have unlimited data"..I said yes, he's like "well we no longer offer that and since your getting a new phone we'll have to set you up with a NEW contract". Then he says "oh by the way you qualify for up to 3 FREE tablets". Im thinking ok..you just refused to replace YOUR faulty phone until I made a payment and now your telling me this? So im like explain free...he's goes on and actually tells me its a promotion for our valued customers that you can recieve between 1-3 tablets..Im like ok..no extra charge on my bill ? Nope ..none just make sure you use a wireless connection when you use it, otherwise the data usage on your NEW contract will go over. So im ok ..i can do that. So im like how can you change my current contract if it wssnt finished...If i was to cancel and go somewhere else you'd charge me hundred's of dollars? He says well its because we no longer offer free data. So long story short i get two tablets. One for me one for a friend right? So he's totaling everything up THEN tells me there will a 35$ activation fee per tablet...Im like what? You just said they were free..."yes they are, but we have to activate them so they will work...just make sure you use a wireless connection when you use them"...so i ask him any other hidden fees i should know about..so im like my bill after buying this phone and the activation fees will go back to my "Normal" monthly fee?." "thats right, your all set" I should mention he did give me an immediate $25 discount on my next month's bill. Perhaps he felt sorry or bad about how pissed off i was going to be when i got my bill...not only did they forward $278 from the so called previous bill but the tablets are not anywhere near free im am being charged an additional 54.19 PER tablet. According to the bill they have there own service line...this is going to go on through my now NEW contract term...talk about being ripped off and lied to ..n then to top it all off you only had to 2 weeks to return the tablets if you changed your mind which wasnt enough time to see how they were going to give it to you in rear...totally dissappointed n i hate hate hate being lied to....period ..n having to pay an extra 108.38 per month on too of my regular bill is an outrage ..disecitful total scam....totally pissed

Fraudulent purchase on my wireless account and the nightmare continues | Verizon review

VZW allowed someone to purchase an iPhone and extend my service agreement on my wireless account. When I caught this - and it's just luck that I did -, after exhausting phone exchanges with Customer Service and Fraud, they finally removed the charges and reset my service date. Be aware if you use auto-pay that you need to check your bills! When a purchase is made VZW says that they send an email confirmation. If they sent one to me it was to a very old email address that no longer exists. When I asked why no one saw that the email was being bounced back as undeliverable, I was told that it goes to an unmanned email server. What may I ask, is the point of sending a confirmation if no one checks to be sure it is received? And, interestingly, they send my bill notification to the correct address, but still used this old one for a purchase. Now they have blocked me from making any new online purchases on my account. I am trying to purchase a device that is not available in store. The Fraud Team that placed the block seems unable to remove it, even after verifying my identity. I have spent many hours on the phone with VZW - I have lost a day's work dealing with this drama, and I am fed up. I am ready to move to another carrier, even though I may lose some signal in areas where I do business. It will be a small price to pay not to have to deal with this incompetence.

Resolved: Verizon unable to fix Internet

Details

Update by user Nov 17, 2014

I got a refund check. Obviously, I wished they could have fixed the problem, rather than me having to swtich ISPs.

Original review posted by user Oct 12, 2014

I was without Internet for most of 3 weeks. I spent hours on the phone with people in India. When they couldn't fix it, I spent time on the phone with people in the US. When they couldn't fix it, they sent people to my house 3 times. They got it to work for maybe a day at a time. The last time, the tech left me his phone number. I called him twice, and he never returned my call. I absolutely was not willing to start at scratch again. I have since switched my service to Comcast, and so far it has worked. Someone was supposed to call me from Verizon to arrange for a refund, but they never called. It looks like I am into a long battle just to get credit for service I never got. I lost time at work, my wife had to take a day vacation. I work two jobs, and both require Internet. Both of my supervisors were unhappy when I could not connect.

After receiving threatening emails and a bill - I called and they said there was no account balance - but could they not have notified me instead of leaving me hanging?? NOOOOO.

Apparently they did receive all their equipment back - they just like to premptively nail consumers. At least I don't owe them any money!

Verizon.net POP/SMTP Email Services

Every time we have made a service change with Verizon or Fios, the router/gateway has aways beeen at no charge and no monthly charge however, the cost for ISP service is as most others have said, expensive and having the least amount of value per mega bit. We pay $87.99 monthly for 50/50 mbps and got a price increase of $7.00 without any advance notice. Calling them resulted in removing the cost increase for a year to keep us satisfied after telling them "internet isn't getting more costly, it's getting cheaper to offer and more competitive". By the way,you can get the upload speeds changed the same day by visiting your Verizon account, logging in and signing up for some b.s. points/rewards gimmick they have. I did and instantly, my 50/35 mbps changed to 50/50 mbps and according to speedtest.net, the line speed is 58/65 mbps. Not bad but by now we all have it figured out...the "free upload speed change" isn't free, it's $7 more for those who read between the lines at Verizon. Also, Netflix works much better. Below, this was a most recent post elsewhere regarding the inner working of Fios/Verizon: Have had Fios for about 2.5 years now. Initially had 15/5 speeds and now have 50/50 mbps speeds. Previously and continuously since Verizon began to offer ISP services in 1998 or so, I have always had Verizon as my ISP. Since the days of dial up, DSL and now Fios, I have never switched to any other ISP so it's now been about 16 years that I have had continuous ISP service with them. That being said, I have no complaints about their internet network and the speeds I am to receive and up until about 2 years ago, received the same with their verizon.net POP/SMTP email. Over the years of increasing speed packages, internet and email speeds had always been the same reliable speed. When I had DSL 1.5, internet and email downloaded at 1.5 and when I had 3.0 and 7.1 speeds, email and internet speeds were equally the same speed. Then, Fios came and with 15.0/5.0 mbps, internet was actually 16.5 mbps down and 6.0 mbps upload as was their email service. I have used outlook express and windows live mail consistently and had the above performance which I have to say was wonderful because their email and internet performed at the "pipe" speed I had with them. Now comes an outage, in September 2012, labor day weekend, both internet and email went down. I called and confirmed the outage was on their end and was told the internet will be restored that day and email would be restored the next day and the outage was the entire country, USA. Internet was restored about 6 hours later and the next day email was restored but...email would perform any faster than 200 mbps to 1.0 mbps. Since that time, their pop/smtp email system hasn't been the same and even to this day, they say, "email and internet speeds are not going to work the same as the other". So, you pay extra for a faster speed package but they won't support the speed update with their email service. Why? No one can say but several of the customer service numb heads say "email is a bundled service and not supported in any way" while the majority of the CSR's suggest both should work the same speed and both are supported. As of this day, Oct 11, 2014, I have 50/50 mbps Fios and their email will not perform at the rated line speeds. The fastest download speed is around 10 mbps while outgoing will leave at around 25 mbps. Not sure that's really what they are trying to sell their customers but that is what they are giving them. So, if you think you are going to use their email service and get blazing fast email also, you will be mistaken and of course, mislead that will happen. I switched over to gmail using pop/smtp with windows live mail software and the speeds are 50 down and 50 up...most of the time. No problem with Gmail and get this, Gmail is free, has way better spam control and more consistent email but of course, if it fails to work etc., there's really no one to call and dictate to since there's no agreement or charge etc. How Verizon can allow this to occur is beyond me. They have the ability to be better than any other freebie service out there yet don't and they charge for it.

Verizon phone service is spotty at best. They have not resolved a phone issue that has been going on for months. They wont fully resolve the issue even though we have the warranty on the wiring on the house! My wife called, they put her on hold and then hung up on her. If you can go with someone else for phone service, please do. My wife uses the phone service for her job and she has missed work because of the phone service. Unacceptable. We are locked into our service because Verizon purchased the entire block for service. Please Help!

Lack of customer service skills in the financial dept. And apparently failing to let me know I've been behind in my monthly bill since March.2014 until last billing cycle. | Verizon review from Colonial Heights, Virginia

Verizon's Financial department told me I was only making minimum payments per month. I pay what the Kiosk says I owe. Sometimes I pay more. They said they couldn't do anything to resolve the problem,I would have to pay it or suffer shut off. And then reconnect fees and so forth. Why couldn't they just text me like they would anyone else, instead of threating with shut off and collections agency if I didn't pay them? I hope for the sake of all Verizon users out there that you keep an eye or your bill and contact them if you notice changes in anything!

Rochester MN..no way to get through to the local stores. As far as the billing and the numbers to call...impossible to talk to a rep. It looks like you need a 100 words so I will also say that the 55932 area's reception is ridiculous in this day and age. Looks like I am only at 50 words and this must be a company thing but if this goes through or not I will spread the word from a long Verizon customer perspective and spending $2500/year with minimal cell service and zero customer service is not the company to embrace.
